THE GREEN HOUSE, ESKILL
The 2015 award was given to “The Green House, Eskhill”, which is situated in the Outstanding Conservation Area of Inveresk Village. It was designed and built by Robin and Lindsay Burley with their architect, Alan Marshall on ecological principals.
The house was built within an existing walled garden, on the site of the old glasshouse and embraces “green” technology as well as incorporating the old garden doocote as a guest suite.
The south facing glazed wall absorbs sunshine, it has high levels of insulation, a sedum roof, a ground source heat pump providing underfloor heating and a solar panel array which powers the house as well as returning electricity to the grid.
